I've been looking around at the Nikon Coolpix P5XX-Series cameras. They have almost everything a DSLR camera has with the exception of the removable lenses. Almost all of the other functions are included but at a somewhat muted capability. What has kept me away from these cameras (until now) was the price.
Recently I found a nice used Coolpix P500 for about $100 on eBay and it should arrive next week. I'm excited because the capabilities of the camera and the very appealing price are a perfect combination. And I'm looking forward to unboxing it and taking some photos.
Another capability of the P500 is its ability to shoot video in 1080p at variable frame rates of 15 frames per second to 240 frames per second (anything over 30 fps is considered high speed video). I'm hoping to experiment with both the high definition and the high speed video capabilities of this camera in the near future.
I think this is going to be fun!
